Installation Guide

Follow these steps to connect your MetaTrader account with Trading Monitor.

Create a Trading Monitor account

Download the app from the App Store or Google Play and create your free account. No credit card required.

Download the Expert Advisor

Download the .ex4 or .ex5 file depending on your MetaTrader version.

Copy to the Experts folder

Open MetaTrader, go to File → Open Data Folder, navigate to MQL4/Experts/ (or MQL5/Experts/) and paste the downloaded file.

Enable WebRequest

In MetaTrader, go to Tools → Options → Expert Advisors. Check "Allow WebRequest for listed URL" and add: https://api.tradingmonitor.app. This allows the EA to send data to the server.

Drag the EA onto a chart

Restart MetaTrader. In the Navigator panel, find "TradingMonitor" under Expert Advisors and drag it onto any chart. You only need one chart — the EA monitors all trades.

Enter your credentials

In the EA configuration window, enter the email and password from your Trading Portfolio Management account.

First sync

The EA will automatically register with your account. Open the web platform or download the mobile app and you'll see your MetaTrader account appear within seconds. From here, sync is automatic every 60 seconds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the EA execute trades on my account?

No. The EA is 100% read-only. It only reads your account data (balance, equity, open trades) and sends it to the server. It never opens, modifies, or closes trades.

Does it work with any broker?

Yes, it works with any broker that supports MetaTrader 4 or MetaTrader 5. There are no broker restrictions.

Can I use the EA on a demo account?

Yes. The EA works on both demo and live accounts. We recommend testing on demo first.

Do I need to keep MetaTrader open?

Yes. The EA needs MetaTrader running to send data. If you use a VPS for your trading EAs, you can install the Trading Monitor EA there too.

What data does the EA send?

Balance, equity, margin, open trades (symbol, lot, entry price, profit), and recent history. It does not send personal data or your broker credentials.
